In 2001, the first major venue for photography in Austria opened in Vienna's Westbahnstraße, founded by a private initiative of enthusiasts and camera collectors. Not only connoisseurs and aficionados still consider the house the hot spot for photography in Vienna. Together with its sister OstLicht, founded by Peter Coeln in 2012, the house presents an exciting international programme ranging from documentary, reportage and portrait photography to experimental photo and media art. The Camera Museum houses one of the world's largest collections of historical and modern equipment.

Marketing for around 20 temporary exhibitions on Nobuyoshi Araki, René Burri, Bryan Adams, Martine Franck, Mario Schmolka, Sebastiao Salgado, Secret Snapshots from the Skrein Collection, World Press Photo, presentations of young artists and competitions in cooperation with the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, the European Central Bank, the Art Directors Club of Europe;
Strengthening of the media presence and positioning as a photography museum, introduction of visitor survey and media monitoring systems, establishment of cultural partner cooperations and acquisition of the first annual media partners, development of a sponsoring portfolio and acquisition of the first major exhibition sponsors, establishment of the museum as an event location (events for L'Oreal, Zürcher Kantonalbank, EZB, Shark, Römerquelle, EconGas, Canon, Welldone, among others), introduction of a new, for the first time barcode-based ticketing system, reorganization of the bookshop
