An experimental arrangement about the future of the museum and the Museum of the Future.
What significance will museums have in the future? How are social conditions negotiated in them? By looking at history, the present and the future, FUTURE undone critically examined the relationships and conflicts between museums and society. The project explored museums as repositories, places of remembrance and public spaces and thematised their economies. It shows historical and current utopias, complaints, protests, visions and dreams. Power relations and exclusions in the past and present are discussed. FUTURE undone invited visitors to reflect on the museum of the future and the future of the museum in a collective process.
Together with 23 other participants of the /ecm-Master Course for Exhibition Theory and Practice at the University of Applied Arts 2016-18, Fleur Christine Vitale curated an exhibition on the future of the institution museum (FUTURE UNDONE at the AIL, Angewandte Innovation Laboratory, Vienna, 10-29 October 2017)
