René Burri

Rene Burri. Fort Lauderdale, Florida. 1966

The Swiss photographer René Burri has shaped the history of photography in the 20th century. The unmistakable picture series from his work as a photojournalist at the focal points of the world, such as the divided and reunited city of Berlin, and his expressive portraits of Ernesto "Che" Guevara, Pablo Picasso, Alberto Giacometti or Le Corbusier have made him famous. Some of his paintings have themselves become valuable testimonies of contemporary history.

Fleur Christine Vitale organized the first exhibition of the Swiss Magnum photographer in Austria while working for WestLicht (UTOPIA, 2006, Vienna).
