Nobuyoshi Araki

Nobuyoshi Araki is indisputably one of the most radical and influential photographers of our time. Extremely productive and innovative in his work, he is considered one of the most important figures in the contemporary art landscape, far beyond the field of photography. With his provocative thematization of social taboos around sexuality and death, the artist continues to cause fierce controversy even after years in the art business.

Araki has become known for his scandalous images of bondage techniques. His far more diverse work has long since found its way into the great museums of the world.

Fleur Christine Vitale organized the third major personal exhibition of the star photographer as a focal point of the Month of Photography (DIARIES, 2006 at WestLicht, Vienna).
