The Brazilian Sebastiao Salgado is one of the outstanding ambassadors of humanism in photojournalism.

In long-term projects, Salgado deals with the major issues of our time - the destruction of the environment and the whereabouts of our last natural resources (Genesis), the mass migration movements caused by war and catastrophes (Migrations) or the disappearance of traditional crafts from our working world (Workers). Salgado's reportages, presented in intense black and white images, leave unforgettable impressions of the loud and quiet changes of our world.

Fleur Christine Vitale organized in cooperation with UNICEF and UNHCR during her work for WestLicht the first museum exhibition of Sebastiao Salgado in Austria (The Children of Exodus; 2006, Vienna).
